Singapore Celebrates Grand Opening of Southeast Asia’s Largest Urinal Cake Factory

In a splashy ceremony attended by trade officials, plumbing professionals, and several mildly confused schoolchildren on a field trip, Singapore officially opened the doors this week to its newest industrial marvel: The FreshPuck Solutions Manufacturing Facility, now the largest producer of urinal cakes in Southeast Asia.
Located in the Jurong Industrial Estate, the factory is expected to produce up to 15 million scented pucks annually, with distribution across Asia and select parts of Europe.
“It’s a very proud day for Singapore,” said factory manager Calvin Yeo, beaming in front of an enormous gold-plated urinal cake displayed at the entrance. “People often underestimate the urinal cake. But it is, quite literally, the cornerstone of modern civilisation.”
HOW IT WORKS
The facility uses a fully automated, AI-assisted moulding and fragrance infusion system — dubbed Project P.U.R.E. (Puck Uniformity & Refreshment Enhancement) — capable of producing over 40 pucks per minute, in a variety of sophisticated fragrances including “Ocean Wind,” “New Tile,” and “Violent Citrus.”
Yeo proudly showed off the “VIP Room,” where custom cakes are developed for five-star hotels and high-end executive washrooms. These exclusive cakes include unique scent blends like “Mahogany Diplomacy” and “Hints of Guilt.”
EMPLOYEE EXPERIENCE
We spoke with puck technician Lenny Tan, who works on the “Lush Lavender” production line.
“Before this job, I never really thought about urinals beyond using them,” said Tan. “Now, I dream in discs. Sometimes I smell pine even when I’m not here.”
He says his job is “deeply fulfilling,” especially when he remembers that he’s making “restroom experiences slightly less grim for thousands of strangers daily.”
GOVERNMENT SUPPORT
In a prepared statement, Singapore’s Ministry of Trade & Industry praised the factory as an example of “hygiene-based innovation at scale.”
“Singapore has long been known for its clean streets, orderly queues, and unusually aggressive chewing gum laws,” the statement read. “This new facility continues our commitment to public freshness, one puck at a time.”
LOOKING AHEAD
FreshPuck Solutions says it has plans to expand into new product lines, including:
- Urinal cake dispensers with Bluetooth connectivity
- Scented urinal cakes that play calming harp music
- A biodegradable range for “eco-conscious toilets”
Yeo ended the tour by offering guests a limited-edition commemorative urinal cake embossed with the national flower of Singapore and the words:
“Making Every Pee Moment Count.”
